Jimmy Tribble was a high school baseball coach who found that his players learned to hit much better by practicing with wood bats. While coaching, he used only wood bats to develop his hitter. Unfortunately, as all coaches know, wood bats break and equipment budgets shrink. Tribble decided a real wood bat solution was necessary. After numerous designs and tests, Tribble and his team discovered the solution, which they patented in December 1998. The original MetalWood Bat combines a wood barrel with an aluminum handle in such a way that it is virtually unbreakable under normal batting conditions.

Since then, The MetalWood Bat has become the bat of choice for many wood bat leagues and over 75 wood bat tournaments. And the number of coaches, leagues and tournaments using The MetalWood Bat continues to grow.
